All classes are conducted in a structured and supervised environment with an emphasis on safety, control, and proper technique. However, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a contact sport and carries inherent risks of injury.
Q: Who is responsible for my safety during training?
All students are expected to take full responsibility for their own well-being during training. This includes following all instructions, guidelines, and safety protocols set by the instructors at all times.
Q: What happens if I do not follow instructions?
Failure to adhere to coaching instructions, safety guidelines, or academy rules may result in increased risk of injury. The Academy shall not be held responsible for any injury, accident, or loss arising from a student’s failure to follow proper guidance or instructions provided.
Q: Do I need to inform the academy about injuries or medical conditions?
Yes. Students must inform instructors of any existing injuries or medical conditions prior to training and report any injuries immediately.
Q: How does belt promotion work at Kazura Origin Martial Arts Academy?
Belt progression is a structured and merit-based process. Students are assessed based on their technical ability, consistency in training, application of techniques, and overall conduct on and off the mats.
Q: How often are promotions conducted?
Promotions are typically conducted twice a year through formal grading and promotion ceremonies at the Academy.
Q: How are students assessed by the Professor?
All assessments are conducted under the guidance of the Technical Director / Head Professor, and are based on:
• Technical Proficiency – Understanding and execution of core techniques
• Application – Ability to apply techniques during live sparring (rolling)
• Consistency – Attendance, commitment, and training discipline
• Progression – Demonstrated improvement and retention of techniques over time
• Composure & Attitude – Discipline, respect, and behaviour within the academy
Assessment is continuous, and students are evaluated over time—not based on a single session.
Q: What happens during grading?
During grading, students may be awarded:
• Stripes – To recognise progress within their current belt level
• Belt Promotion – Advancement to the next belt rank (where eligible)
All promotions are awarded based on merit and instructor evaluation.
Q: Is there a fee for grading and promotion?
Yes. A grading fee applies for all students undergoing formal assessment and promotion. This fee covers administrative processing, evaluation, certification, and ceremony arrangements.
Q: Are grading fees refundable?
All grading fees are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable, regardless of the outcome of the assessment.
Q: If I pay the grading fee, am I guaranteed to pass?
No. Payment of the grading fee does not guarantee promotion.
All students are assessed based on:
• Technical proficiency
• Ability to apply techniques (live sparring)
• Consistency and attendance
• Overall progress and development
• Attitude, discipline, and conduct
Promotion is awarded only when the required standards are met, as determined by the Professor.
Q: What happens if I do not pass the grading?
Students who do not meet the required standard may:
• Be advised to continue training and reassessed at a later grading cycle
• Receive feedback on areas for improvement
This ensures that all promotions reflect true skill, readiness, and integrity of rank.
Q: What will I receive if I pass?
Students who successfully meet the grading requirements may receive:
• Stripes (progress within current belt level), or
• Belt Promotion (next rank)
All successful candidates will be awarded an official certificate of promotion during the ceremony.
Promotion Ceremony
Q: What is the promotion ceremony?
The promotion ceremony is a formal and significant milestone within Kazura Origin Martial Arts Academy. It recognises a student’s dedication, discipline, and progression in their training journey.
Q: What happens during the ceremony?
During the ceremony:
• Students are formally called forward for recognition
• Stripes or new belts are awarded by the Professor
• Certificates of promotion are presented
• The Academy acknowledges each student’s growth and commitment
This ceremony represents not just technical advancement, but the character and discipline developed through training.
Q: Will I receive certification?
Yes. Students who are promoted will receive an official certificate of promotion issued by the Academy.
Q: Does attendance guarantee promotion?
No. Attendance alone does not guarantee promotion. Advancement is based on meeting the required technical, performance, and character standards set by the Academy.
“At Kazura Origin, rank is earned—not purchased. Every promotion reflects discipline, consistency, and proven ability.”
Q: What is the training culture at Kazura Origin Martial Arts Academy?
Kazura Origin is built on a foundation of discipline, respect, and continuous self-improvement. Our training environment is structured to develop not only technical skill, but also character, resilience, and mental strength.

However, in unforeseen circumstances, last-minute changes may occur.
Q: Can I attend a replacement class?
Yes. Students may attend alternative available classes within the schedule, subject to availability and eligibility.
Q: What happens to my monthly membership if classes are cancelled?
Monthly memberships remain valid as they provide overall access to the Academy’s training schedule, not tied to a single class.
Short-term cancellations or schedule adjustments do not affect billing, as alternative classes will be made available.
Q: What if there are prolonged cancellations or closures?
In the event of extended disruptions (e.g. unforeseen circumstances, regulatory requirements), the Academy may, at its sole discretion:
• Adjust class schedules
• Provide alternative training arrangements
• Extend membership or credit validity where appropriate
Q: Can I request a refund due to class cancellations?
Class cancellations or schedule changes do not constitute grounds for refunds, as stated in the Membership Agreement.
“Kazura Origin operates with structure and accountability. While flexibility is provided, all memberships are based on access to a complete training system—not individual sessions.”
Q: What happens if the class is full or crowded?
Classes at Kazura Origin are conducted in a shared training space, and capacity may vary depending on attendance and scheduling.
To maintain safety and training quality, the Academy reserves the right to manage class capacity, including limiting entries based on bookings.
Q: Will I still be able to train if the class is full?
Students are strongly encouraged to book classes in advance to secure their slot.
If a class reaches capacity, students may:
• Join another available session
• Book the next suitable class within the schedule
Q: Can I request a refund if the class feels crowded or space is limited?
No. As outlined in the Membership Agreement, class capacity, shared space usage, or training conditions do not constitute grounds for refunds.
All memberships provide access to the Academy’s overall training system and schedule, rather than guaranteeing space in a specific session.
Q: How does the Academy ensure a good training experience in a shared space?
The Academy will make reasonable efforts to:
• Structure classes appropriately based on attendance
• Ensure safe pairing and training rotation
• Manage bookings to optimise training flow
Students are also expected to train with awareness, control, and respect for others in a shared environment.
“Training at Kazura Origin reflects real-world discipline—adaptability, respect for space, and commitment to continuous improvement.”
Q: Must I purchase a Gi (uniform)?

If you do not have one, you may purchase it at Mobius Arena. Alternatively, you may source your own uniform externally, provided it meets standard BJJ Gi requirements.
Q: Can I train without a Gi?
No. For Gi classes, students are strictly required to wear a proper Gi/uniform. Students without the appropriate attire will not be permitted to step onto the mat.
Q: Are there any exceptions for beginners?
First-time trial students may be allowed to train in suitable sports attire. However, all enrolled members are expected to obtain a proper Gi within a reasonable timeframe.
“Wearing the Gi reflects discipline, respect for the art, and readiness to train.”
